August 9 - Top-rated American mare Zenyatta will no doubt go down in history as one of the best female runners that ever lived, considering she won the $300,000 Clement L. Hirsch Stakes (Gr 1) on Saturday, her 18th straight win.

In fact, 6-year-old Zenyatta has never once been beaten in her career, which is what makes her such a formidable runner and a great favourite for horseracing fans across the nation, who are eager to see if she can pull off yet another victory.

On Saturday at Del Mar Racecourse in southern California, Zenyatta went up against five other fillies and mares 3-years-old and up, including Irish-bred Spring Style, British-bred Princess Taylor and Canadian-bred Dance to My Tune.

But Zenyatta was just too good, which she proved when, coming fifth in the late stages, her regular rider and champion jockey Mike Smith asked her for more, and she responded by pushing to the front and crossing the line first by a neck.

Although a fairly slow race, Zenyatta completed the course in a time of 1:45.03. She finished ahead of Irish-bred Rinterval in second, who finished in front of Princess Taylor in third. The victory marked Zenyatta's incredible 12th Gr 1 win.

Of course, the question on everyone's mind is what's next for Zenyatta, who has won just about every great American race there is. Well, according to her trainer John Shirreffs, the $250,000 Zenyatta Breeders' Cup Stakes may be next.

Formerly known as the Lady' Secret Stakes, the Zenyatta Breeders' Cup Stakes is scheduled for Saturday, October 2 at Santa Anita Park in California, which is just one of many races that are a part of the 2010 Breeders' Cup Challenge.
