Weekend Hussler Tries For Sixth Group One Win - 04-17-08
April 17 - Weekend Hussler will undergo his biggest task yet this weekend at Rosehill when he tries to equal the 6 Group 1 wins in a season set up by Kingston Town in his 3-year-old season.
Weekend Hussler has so far won the following Group 1 races; Caulfield Guineas, Ascot Vale Stakes, Oakleigh Plate, Newmarket Handicap and the Randwick Guineas. He will be taking his place in the George Ryder Stakes on Saturday, competing with the magnificent Racing To Win, Desert War, Mentality and Honor In War.
He was rated the top 3-year-old in the world recently, but this particular race will be different...it is his first start at a weight-for-age race. His regular jockey, Brad Rawiller says that this race will be his toughest yet. It's against all the older horses and the field is utterly brilliant.
There was a slight concern because there had been rain at Rosehill, but Rawiller says that so far Hussler has shown that he has no issues with a soft track. He added that even though it wasn't likely to be an easy race he wouldn't want to be riding any other horse.
If Hussler manages to pull this race off, he might even be able to better Kingston Town's record. He has been entered on the Doncaster Handicap at Randwick, but he has not yet been confirmed as a definite start.
