Variety Club Wins Cape Guineas As We Predicted
Author: Marc Weinberg
December 20 - Full disclosure: Joey Ramsden trains all the horses that are purchased by RaceHorseOwner.com for syndication. We wouldn't have it any other way, as it is safe to say that he consistently delivers excellent results. The 2011/12 season, however, has seen the yard take it to another level with a slew of big race wins culminating in a facile win by Variety Club in Saturday's Cape Guineas.
Some more disclosure: In our preview of the race we gave our free tips and suggested that Variety Club would win, and that Silver Flyer (2nd) and Princess Victoria (3rd) were the only dangers. Here, read it for yourself and you can see why our horse racing tips should be the talk of the town.
Ramsden had a great game plan for the race, employing a pacemaker, which ensured that it would be run at a true pace. The pretenders who are really only 6f or 7f types (looking at you Divine Jet) were found wanting, and the form from previous races like the Selangor and the Matchem held up.
Variety Club won by more than 3 lengths - a training feat of note when one considers it was a 3 year old son of Var winning over a Mile. He should go for the Queen's Plate next as he could well prove hard to beat at WFA conditions.
Our congratulations to the entire Ramsden team!
