Top Trainers in UAE 2000 Guineas Showdown - 02-14-08
February 14 - This evening's race is going to be a grand battle of the titans as trainers Mike de Kock and Saeed Bin Suroor both strive to maintain supremacy.
Both trainers have won the UAE 2,000 Guineas before. Saeed Bin Suroor has won it 4 times, the last being in 2002 with Essence of Dubai. Mike de Kock has won the race 3 times.
Each of the trainers is saddling 3 runners. Mike De Kock won last year's race with Asiatic Boy and is hoping for a repeat win with Honour Devil. He is also saddling Royal Vintage in his debut UAE race, and Ablaan who has won both his starts in the UAE this season. De Kock says that it's difficult to split the horses according to the work they have put in, but Honour Devil had proved himself on dirt. He also said that this race is going to be a tough test for the horses.
Saeed Bin Suroor is looking for a win with Etched - another UAE debutante. Suroor said that Etched was in very good form and ready to run and was expecting big things from him for this race. Suroor is also saddling My Indy who has been a Group 2 winner in Argentina and Numaany who just won his most recent race at the Aqueduct racecourse in the US.
The UAE 2000 Guineas is the 6th race in the Dubai International Racing Carnival.
