September 10 - On Saturday at Pinnacle Racecourse in New Boston, Michigan, racing fans can look forward to the $50,000 Michigan Oaks for 3-year-old Michigan-bred fillies, which has attracted a field of eight.

The early race favorite is Top Touch, which is not surprising considering the swift turn of foot she displayed when she romped home first by 5 1/2 lengths in August's $20,000 Ann Arbor Stakes for 3-year-old fillies.

As such, many betting fans will expect to see her deliver a similar outcome on Saturday with her regular jockey Alexis Ortiz aboard. Owned by Charlie Williams and trained by Sandy Adkins, Top Touch starts from post 4.

Being the feature of Pinnacle's 10-race card, the 1 1/16-mile Michigan Oaks is expected to generate some good betting action. But although Top Touch will no doubt start the race well-backed, she has some tough rivals.

These include Star Sheba who, in her last start in an allowance, racked up a none-to-shabby second place and earned herself a 76 Beyer Speed Figure, which is higher than those of all the other Michigan Oaks contenders.

Star Sheba won the $30,000 Regret Stakes at Pinnacle in July, but was disqualified when it was discovered she was lacking the proper statebred certification. Top Pinnacle jockey Tommy Molina will be aboard Saturday.

Also a potential threat to Top Touch is Hustle Now who came third place in the Ann Arbor Stakes. However, some punters may be aware that the filly has largely failed to live up to her winning championship juvenile year.
