Tattersalls December Sale

Tattersalls December Sale Catalogue Released -11-07-08

November 7 - Race horse owners and breeders are set to have a field day at this year's Tattersalls December Sale from November 24th to December 4th in Newmarket, England, with over 2727 lots on made up of 1261 foals, 237 yearlings and 1230 breeding stock lots.

With the release of the Tattersalls December Sale catalogue, buyers have just under three weeks to decide which horses they want in their Christmas stockings this year and they'll have no shortage of choice. However, three Gr 1 winning fillies and a Gr 1 winning mare are expected to highlight the sale.

The three fillies comprise Lady Marian, Natagora, and Saoirse Abu, while the mare is National Colour. Lady Marian is expected to attract the highest interest in the sale after she recently won the prestigious Prix de l'Opera (Gr 1) at Longchamp in Paris, easily dispatching top-rated three-time Gr 1 winner Lush Lashes.

Natagora - who won the Cheveley Park Stakes (Gr 1) as a two-year-old, the 1000 Guineas as a three-year-old as well as the Prix Robert Papin (Gr 2) - should also fetch a good price. The daughter of Sunday Silence's son Divine Light, Natagora has been consigned from the stables of French trainer Pascal Bary.

Saoirse Abu has been consigned to the sale from Jim Bolger's Glebe House Stables in Ireland. She is a filly that should also attract some serious bidders because as a two-year-old Saoirse Abu placed third in the 1000 Guineas, and won the Moyglare Stud Stakes (Gr 1) as well as the Phoenix Stakes (Gr 1).

South African-bred mare National Colour was named South African Horse of the Year in 2006, after she won three Gr 1 races under the care of her trainer Sean Tarry. In the Nunthorpe Stakes (Gr 1) in August this year at Newmarket, National Colour showed her true ability with a close second place.

Other top-notch horses that will come under the hammer include talented two-year-olds Lahaleeb and Langs Lash, St Leger (Gr 1) runner-up Unsung Heroine, Arch Swing - runner-up in the 1000 Guineas, as well as Turkish stunner Ribella, who has accrued over 1-million pounds in career prize money.

Said Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony, 'Our last year's Tattersalls December Sale broke all records and while that will indeed be a hard act to follow we are absolutely delighted this year to have such a wide range of top quality horses on offer, especially the three Gr 1 winning three-year-old fillies.'
