Shadwell Racing is a UK-based
thoroughbred horse racing operation owned by the Deputy Ruler of Dubai,
Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The Sheikh founded his first horse
racing stable in the England in 1981, and has since been very active in
breeding and racing.
Through Shadwell Racing, Sheikh Hamdan owns eight stud farms, six of
which are based in Suffolk, England and two in County Kildare, Ireland.
Between them, Shadwell Racing boasts over 200 top-quality thoroughbred
broodmares as well as numerous stallions. |

In 1991 the company opened Shadwell Farm in Lexington, Kentucky,
extending its world class stud operations to include the United States.
Over the years Shadwell Racing has celebrated over 50 Gr 1 wins in
Europe alone, and many others in the US, Australia and Dubai.
Such has the success of Shadwell Racing been that it has produced its
fair share of highly prized sprinters, milers and middle-distance
runners. One notable winner includes Salsabil who impressed in 1990 by
not only winning the coveted
Epsom Oaks but also the Irish Derby.
In 2005 Shadwell Racing bought the Argentina-bred race horse Invasor and
brought him to the United States. There, Invasor proved himself a
champion by winning many graded stakes races including the 2006
Breeders' Cup Classic. He was voted 2006 U.S. Horse of the Year.Shadwell Racing has over
75 major international race wins to its name in the United Kingdom,
Ireland, Australia, United States, United Arab Emirates and France. |
