Jockey Profile |
Ryan Moore |
Ryan Moore was born in England 18 September 1983.
Moore was figuratively born into the world of horse racing. His
father, Gary Moore, is the highly revered and extremely successful
flat trainer, who is notorious for training the illustrious
racehorse of racehorses, Karinga Bay. His brother too, is involved
in this noble sport, but Jamie Moore is making his name as a jump
jockey. It's no wonder that becoming a jockey seemed the likely
career evolution for Moore. |
 |
He set his racing career
in motion, by taking advantage of his father's experience, and became
his apprentice, ultimately becoming an English flat racing jockey, and
taking the Champion Jockey award in 2006. Even though he contracts the
better part of his rides to Richard Hannon and his father, he also rides
for a number of British trainers on a regular basis.
One of Moore's most momentous events was winning the 2002 Tote
Cesarewitch at Newmarket - one of the most popular betting races of the
season, aboard Miss Fara.
Moore seemed to draw a valor from the memorable season of 2002, and
appeared determined to better his achievements in 2003. He began by
scoring 59 wins, entitling him to the 2003 Apprentice Jockey of the Year
and British flat racing Champion Apprentice of 2003. He also took first
place at the 2003
Goodwood
King George Stakes aboard The Tatling, which he states as the best horse
he has ever ridden.
In 2006, he once again took the title of Flat Jockey of the Year and
British flat racing Champion Jockey. His foremost win was on Notnowcato
at the Juddmonte International Stakes.
In mid-March 2007 at Lingfield, he sustained a broken arm, and missed a
great deal of the season. Even though this affected his chances of
recapturing his champion jockey title, he still managed to take 4 major
winnings in the Eclipse Stakes, Prix Royal-Oak, Matron Stakes and Gran
Criterium. |
