The Randwick Guineas is a Grade I race for 3-year-old thoroughbreds. The race is run at set weights over 1600 meters and the purse is $400000.
The race is held annually in March and is the first leg of the fabled Sydney 'Triple Crown' for 3-year-olds. The other two races are the Rosehill Guineas (which is run over 2000 meters) and the AJC Derby (which is run over 2400 meters).
The Randwick Guineas has replaced the Canterbury Guineas -- which was also part of the Sydney Autumn Carniva. The Canterbury Guineas was last run in 2005, we have included the last three winners of that race for the purposes of continuity. |
