September 3 - Tomorrow seven 4-year-old colts will start in the $750,000 Woodward Stakes (Gr 1) at Saratoga Racecourse, and of them the overwhelming favourite Quality Road is expected to dominate the 1 1/8 mile race.

Despite losing to Blame by a head at Saratoga a month ago in the $750,000 Whitney Invitational Handicap (Gr 1), there is little doubt that any of Quality Road's rivals on Saturday are of the same quality as the worthy victor.

Earlier this year Quality Road chalked up deserving victories in both the $500,000 Donn Handicap (Gr 1) at Florida's Gulfstream Park and the epic? $600,000 Metropolitan Handicap (Gr 1) at Belmont Park here in New York.

As such, despite his second place in the Whitney, he is expected to dominate the Woodward Stakes and, in fact, anything but a victory would be regarded as an 'upset.' He will start from post 3 with John Velazquez aboard.

In terms of who could pose the biggest threat to Quality Road, Convocation is the second favourite. The colt won an allowance here in August and finished fourth in the Met Mile. He'll start from post 1 under Javier Castellano.

And although he has largely failed to live up to expectation since winning the 2009 Kentucky Derby (Gr 1), Mine That Bird will start from post 2 under Rajiv Maragh tomorrow, who'll be replacing his usual jockey Calvin Borel.

Since finishing fifth in the Whitney Invitational, Mine That Bird has been written off by many punters. However, his trainer D. Wayne Lukas believes that he has a few more wins in him, and will fit him with blinkers on Saturday.
