May 17 - Nine horses will run in the 2007 Preakness Stakes and it looks like a high quality field, but the morning line odds suggest that Street Sense will start a clear favorite as he looks to take the second leg of the Triple Crown this Saturday.

Street Sense - 7/5

The handicappers have Street Sense at the right odds. He deserves to start as favorite but any price shorter than this would probably be incorrect. He has been beaten 4 times, and does not seem to be the same world-beating horse when he races away from Kentucky. Many of his rivals will be better suited to this race, and he faces a tough task here.

Hard Spun - 5/2

May well start shorter than 5/2 as he has a lot of fans for this race. Local connections including a jockey who know this track better than any other in the race are all in his favor. He is track suited with lively early pace and ran a blinder in the Kentucky Derby. The only fear is he may bounce after such a big effort, but could win this race.

Curlin - 7/2

If he drifts like he did on Derby day then stay away from him. Ran third but was disappointing at Churchill Downs and could be overrated. If he is supported in the betting you need to be careful, but has a lot to find on the first two.

King Of The Roxy - 12/1

Of all the new characters in the plot he is the liveliest threat to ruin the Triple Crown party. Missed the Derby because of stamina doubts but is well suited to this race in terms of track and distance, and has a fantastic trainer / jockey combo. Is likely to hit the board and should be included in all exotics bets.
