Trainer Profile |
Michael Stoute |
Michael Ronald Stoute
was born on the 22nd of October 1945 and is the only
thoroughbred horse trainer in the past century to be the victor in 5
consecutive seasons of an English Classic. Stoute has been named
Champion Trainer 9 times and even found time to train a Champion hurdler
with Kribensis way back in 1990.
He moved to Britian in the 1960's as a young man after growing up in
Barbados and by 1972 had set himself up as a trainer in Newmarket. He
won his first Derby in 1981 with the illustrious Shergar, still
one of the best (if not the best) horse he ever stabled.
Stoute's has won every Classic race in England with the exception of the
St. Leger, and he has also won numerous big races around the world
including three Breeders' Cup events and The Dubai World Cup with
Singspiel. |
 |
| In Barbados during 1998
Stoute received his knighthood for services to tourism, so he's now Sir
Michael to the likes of us commoners. It is a safe bet that he is the
most famous horse racing trainer ever to come from the Caribbean
islands. |
