Linngari Bids To Make History - 02-21-08

February 21 - Linngari, the on-form stable star of trainer Herman Brown, is primed to make history on Thursday when he attempts to win the Al Fahidi Fort (grade 2) race at Nad Al Sheba in Dubai.

Should he win the $250,000 race, it will be for the third successive time.

In the race Lingair will be conceding weight to numerous other top horses, a penalty he received for his victory in a Grade 1 horse race, the Premio Vittorio di Capua in Italy.

Brown says that although the penalty makes things more difficult, Linngari is in top form and loves this racecourse. He maintains that Linngari will run a big race.

Other top horses in the races are Danak who is running his first race since moving to the Doug Watson yard. Watson said that Danak "is as fit as we can get him and he has worked well at Nad Al Sheba when we have brought him over. It is a tough race but we hope he goes well."

Mike de Kock is saddling Admiralofthefleet and Archipenko in tonight's race. De Kock who has won this race previously with Yard-Arm and Ipi Tombe says that Archipenko "is a nice horse who has been highly tried in the past, but will appreciate stepping up to this trip."

John Gosden saddles Royal Oath who has a win at Royal Ascot in the formbook.

Linngari's ultimate aim is the $5 million Dubai Duty Free on World Cup night so this is still just a prep run for the horse, and we wouldn't recommend any bet on the favourite in this spot. Under the circumstances we feel that Archipenko, who campaigned against far better horses than these in Europe last season when he was trained by Aidan O'Brien could be the one to win here. We recommend a good sized each-way wager.
