A Grade I stakes race, the Kentucky Oaks is for three-year-old Thoroughbred fillies and takes place once a year in Louisville, Kentucky. Currently the race is 1811 metres and is held at Churchill Downs. The race is one of the most popular and highly-prized races in the USA for three-year-old fillies along with the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes and the Acorn Stakes.
Recently the Kentucky Oaks has become nearly as popular as the Derby, with spectators usually only second to Derby Day. Its attendance exceeds the Preakness Stakes, the Belmont Stakes and the Breeders' Cup. |

Churchill Downs can seat 51,000, but can accommodate more than 165,000
