Infallible To Tackle Stakes Race Today! - 04-16-08
April 16 - Infallible, who won her maiden race debut at the end of last year will have to step it up if she is going to win at the Leslie Harrison Memorial Nell Gwyn Stakes today. Her trainer, John Gosden has won this race which is a prep 1000 Guineas race twice. Once with Valentine Waltz and then with Karen's Caper. He has chosen Infallible who is the daughter of Pivotal as his starter for this year's race. She was trading at odds of 16-1 for the Guineas. Gosden said that she is very inexperienced but that they will know more about which direction they want to take her in after this race.
Spinning Lucy however is also keen for the challenge. Barry Hills' filly finished last season very well but disappointed in her trip out in the Goffs' Fillies Million. Her handler, Charlie Hills says that she has wintered very well and the persistent problems she experienced last season seem to be gone. He also said as she is so relaxed and she travels very well so they could put her in a race pretty much anywhere.
Quiet Elegance will be trying for a third win in a row when she starts in the Stakes today. Quiet Elegance who almost died when she was younger due to a negative reaction to the EI jab didn't start training as a 2-year-old, but she has improved a lot and Eric Alston feels she is up for the challenge. Depending on what happens today will decide whether or not she goes to the 1000 Guineas.
The Leslie Harrison Memorial Nell Gwyn Stakes is a Group 3 fillies race with a purse of £50 000.
