000 allowance optional claimer

Idealhouse Set for Friday $75,000 Claimer - 02-19-10

February 19 - Today (Friday, February 19) at Aqueduct Racecourse in New York, racing fans can look forward to a host of claiming races including a $75,000 allowance optional claimer for three-year-old fillies, which has attracted six runners including Kieran McLaughlin's newest acquisition, Idealhouse.

The respected trainer, along with partners Alvin Haynes and Jay Goldman, recently bought Idealhouse after she romped home first in a $25,000 claiming race on January 14. Based on that run, McLaughlin and his partners took the plucky filly off the hands of Vinery Stables and respected trainer Steve Asmussen.

Said McLaughlin, 'We thought it was a reasonable price for a filly that's eligible to a starter allowance. She ran quite well on all the figures, so we bought her.' In her $25,000 claimer, Idealhouse beat Roman Chestnut by five lengths, which went on to win the $65,000 Busher Stakes here at Aqueduct last Saturday.

As such there may be many people over and above her connections who are curious to see what Idealhouse can do this afternoon in New York. When she started out, Idealhouse contested her first five races over synthetic tracks. But it was only after she was shifted to dirt that she started showing her true potential.

In the $25,000 claimer, Idealhouse handled a challenge by How Cool Is That in her stride before pulling clear. And she did exactly the same with Roman Chestnut, obviously showing her prospective owners that there may be more than meets the eye to the three-year-old. Hence her berth in today's $75,000 claimer.

Interestingly, Steve Asmussen's entry J Z's Revenge will start as the 2/1 second favourite while Idealhouse will start as the 3/1 third favourite behind favorite She'll Be Doggone, who is trained by Tony Dutrow, brother of trainer Rick Dutrow Jr. She'll Be Doggone won her career debut at Aqueduct in November last year.

Here is the complete field and odds for today's Allowance Optional Claiming $75,000 (for three-year-old fillies that have never won a race other than maiden, claiming, starter, or restricted or which have never won two races or optional claiming price of $75,000) at Aqueduct Racecourse in Ozone Park, NY:

  1. Silver Tax (NY) 20/1
  2. Idealhouse (KY) 3/1
  3. Mad Mambo (FL) 10/1
  4. She'll Be Doggone (KY) 9/5
  5. J Z's Revenge (FL) 2/1
  6. Little Miss Macho (VA) 6/1
