Hong Kong International Races This Sunday - 12-03-07
December 3 - The 2007 Catahy Pacific Hong Kong International racemeeting will draw the attention of the horseracing world this Sunday as Dylan Thomas faces the starter for the last time in a glittering career. The multiple Group 1 winner will bow out in the Hong Kong Vase, after his scratching in the Japan Cup last month.
Miss Andretti is another globe-cantering equine superstar who will take her place on Hong Kong's most famous day of racing. She was recently named Australia's horse of the year, no shock there as she won five Group 1 races in her home country as well as a Group 2 race at Royal Ascot. She will have plenty to do if she is to win the Hong Kong Sprint, however, as it looks a very tough field. Sacred Kingdom, Absolute Champion, Benbaun, and South Africa's own Tiza will all be in the race as well.
Mike De Kock had intended to run Kildonan in the Hong Kong Mile but the latest news is that he has suffered an injury in training for the race and will not take part. He is expected to run again.
Sky Conqueror was the only North American runner on the card but he has also been withdrawn and his place in the Hong Kong Vase taken by Kocab. This could be a very interesting runner and is one to consider on the day. Trained by Andre Fabre he stays all day and has good recent form.
Dylan Thomas will certainly be vulnerable and overvalued in the betting. If you're looking for an Aiden O'Brien runner in the winner's enclosure then Excellent Art will be a better proposition.
