May 15 - The Place Accumulator is an exotic bet offered at South African horse racing meetings that makes a lot of sense for small-stakes punters and big-time gamblers alike. It is very scaleable so you can get a piece of it for a small investment, or you can create a permutation that costs a lot but could net you tens of thousands in profit!
The following play will cost R216 for a full percentage, but of course you can spend however much (or little) you can afford (say by spending R108 and getting 50% of it or spending R432 and having it twice). We've given a brief explanation for our selections for each of the seven legs of the P/A.
Race 3 (LEG 1): The favourite I GOT VISION is knocking on the door and could well win this but has a wide draw to overcome, and this is a workriders' race so they can be tougher to predict. Take THE GIANT as well to be on the safe side. Take Numbers: 1 and 5.
Race 4 (LEG 2): This is a tricky race and a big field could lead to some upsets in the P/A here. We are going to go wide with three horses. Take Numbers: 2,3, and 13.
Race 5 (LEG 3): AIKIDO is our selection to win this race, and while we're tempted to banker him we will also include MODERN ODYSSEY as a back-up. Take Numbers: 1 and 4.
Race 6 (LEG 4): SUPREME LECTURE is a model of consistency, always runs well at this course, and is very well in at the weights. Should take a power of beating and is a banker here. Take Number: 11
Race 7 (LEG 5): This is another wide open race. ROYAL BIRD is a longshot who could run into the money. DREAM FANTASY is another horse who could improve in this spot. We'd also add DUKE'S WOMAN into the mix. Take Numbers: 5,7, and 8.
Race 8 (LEG 6): This is a big field and a mediocre one to boot. We'll go wide with KINCAID, PARTYATTHEPALACE, and TIME KEEPER Take Numbers: 9,11, and 14
Race 9 (LEG 7): GALAXY GLORY and EVIDENT HALO should be enough to get is though here. Take Numbers: 4 and 5.
