Epsom Derby 2007 Odds And Latest Betting Updates - 05-28-07
May 28 - The 2007 Vodafone Derby at Epsom Downs will be run this Saturday and we have the latest odds for this Classic race. All the betting focus for The Derby in '07 as been on Authorized but don't be surprised if a longshot wins.
Authorized is 4/5 according to the latest Derby odds. The Irish bred son of Montjeu is trained by PW Chapple-Hyam and has done little wrong so far in his career. But there is no shortage of talent in this field with Marcus Tregoning's Aqaleem next in the betting at 8/1 and Archipenko at 9/1.
Tregoning won this race last year with Sir Percy and Aqaleem was most impressive in the Derby Trial at Lingfield in his previous start, winning by 4 lengths.
There are 19 runners declared for the Epsom Derby at this stage and no less than 8 of them are trained by Aidan O'Brien. Archipenko and Solider Of Fortune (12/1) are his two leading runners according to the betting, but he has a third lively contender in Eagle Mountain, easy to back at 14/1.
The Epsom Derby is off at 16:20 local time and will be run over 1m 4f (2400m), the Classic Derby distance.
