Easy Rocker Has Sights Set on Ipswich Eye Liner - 06-13-08
June 13 - Australian sprinter, Easy Rocker, is expected to lead the field
tomorrow (Saturday, June 14th) in Queensland, when he competes in the Eye
Liner Stakes (1350m) at Ipswich, a race his trainer, Tony Gollan, believes
could be the highlight of his career so far if he pulls it off.
This year the four-year-old Easy Rocker, son of Easy Rocking, has been
very consistent in his races, delivering many 'gutsy' performances, including an
impressive second place finish behind Nuclear Medicine in the Listed Dr John
Power (1200m) at Eagle Farm in April.
He then finished third in the Listed Prime Minister's Cup (1300m) at the Gold
Coast, fifth in the Group Three BTC Sprint (1350m) at Doomben, and grabbed
another third place on a heavy track in the Group Two QTC Cup (1300m) at Eagle
Farm at the end of May.
However, according to 29-year-old Tony Gollan, the Toowoomba-based Easy Rocker
has a good chance of snatching victory in tomorrow's prestigious Eye Liner
Stakes. He will be under the able guidance of jockey, Lacey Morrison, as he goes
into the race unbeaten in two Ipswich starts.
Said Gollan, 'I have no doubt that Lacey will do a great job tomorrow and, while
we were unlucky to draw barrier 14, I am confident that Easy Rocker will battle
his way through. A small worry we have, however, is that it doesn't look to be a
lot of pace in the this race.
'That said, Lacey has ridden Easy Rocker before and rode a good race in the QTC
Cup, so she has a good feel of him and should deliver a strong performance,'
said Gollan.
