Dubai World Cup Betting Trickier With Full Field - 03-20-08
March 20 - Curlin will be the red-hot favorite when punters take a look at the 2008 Dubai World Cup betting, but it might not be an open and shut case. A record-equalling field of 13 are expected to face the starter and although Curlin's form on paper puts him in a different league to his opposition a lot can happen in the actual race.
The Dubai World Cup is the world's richest horse race with stakes of $6,000,000 up for grabs sponsored by Emirates Airline. Favorites have fared extremely well in the past in this race especially when they hail from the USA. The race is on dirt and has attracted horses like Cigar and Silver Charm, who acclimated easily to conditions in Dubai and won the race as they liked.
If there is going to be a betting upset Godolphin's runners could play a part and both Jalil and Happy Boy have shown good form in prep races. Two horses who were beaten in last year's Dubai World Cup by Invasor return for another crack at the top prize. Premium Tap finished second in 2007 and Vermilion was 4th.
We're also expecting a good run from Asiatic Boy, who is trained by South African Mike de Kock and won the Dubai Triple Crown last year culminating in a victory on this same card in 2007 when he won the UAE Derby. He's a far better horse on the dirt and should improve from a misguided campaign on the turf in the UK last year.
De Kock's two three-year-old runners Royal Vintage and Honour Devil should fight out the finish to this year's $2,000,000 UAE Derby with Royal Vintage our selection to win here.
