Dubai Duty Free

Dubai Duty Free Could Go To Herman Brown - 03-24-08

March 24 - The $5 Million 2008 Dubai Duty Free is the world's richest horse race contested on turf, and is the supporting feature on Dubai World Cup night. One trainer who could hold the key to this year's running is Herman Brown who saddles Linngari and Jay Peg.

Linngari finished second in this race last year and has campaigned around the globe in a stellar career. He is a Group 1 winner, having captured the Premio Vittorio di Capua in 2007, and Brown is confident that his horse could win it all this year. We have our doubts, however, as Linngari has looked a step behind opponents like Archipenko during this year's Dubai racing season.

Archipenko is now trained by another South African, Mike de Kock, who has racked up plenty of winners on Dubai World Cup night. Brown, by contrast, seeks his first winner on the richest night of horse racing. He might have a better chance in the Duty Free with the former South African champion Jay Peg.

Jay Peg ran second last time out in a Group Two prep race, but he was burdened with a heavy weight penalty in all his Dubai starts due to his Group One wins back in South Africa. He will strip fitter as well next week, is distance suited, and if he gets some luck in running we predict that he will finish ahead of his more vaunted stable companion.

You should definitely include Jay Peg in all exotics bets for the Dubai Duty Free, and he is a lively each-way chance on the night.

Herman Brown will also saddle Sushisan in the Group 1 Dubai Sheema Classic, but this race looks ultra-competitive, and it will be surprising if he finishes better than his 5th place finish in last year's running of this race.
