Cheltenham Festival Betting Preview For Day 2 - 03-12-08
March 12 - The 2008 Cheltenham Festival got off to an amazing start for our readers yesterday. If you followed our Cheltenham free picks for Day One you must have made an absolute bundle. No need to thank us but a little credit here, we gave out four picks to win yesterday and three of the horses won! Not only that but they won at big big prices.
It all started with the Arkle Challenge Trophy where we picked Tidal Bay to win and Kruguyrova as the longshot value (finished second). The Exacta alone paid nearly 70/1!
It got even better from there with our Champion Hurdle tip on Katchit to win. And we capped off an incredible day at the Festival with the William Hill Trophy winner, An Accordion.
See it all for yourself right here: Cheltenham free tips for the first day.
Now here are out Day Two free tips:
14:00 Ballymore Properties Novices' Hurdle (grade 1)
Betting Preview:. The latest betting is 4/1 Forpadydeplasterer (IRE), 9/2 Aigle D'or, 5/1 Group Captain, 6/1 Trafford Lad, 7/1 Breedsbreeze (IRE), 10/1 Fiveforthree (IRE), 12/1 Venalmar, 16/1 and upwards the field. The favourite looks vulnerable in an open race.
Top Pick To Win: We're taking Breedsbreeze to win this race. He looks the right price at 7s and is definitely worth an each-way wager.
14:35 Royal & Sunalliance Chase (grade 1)
Betting Preview: The odds again suggest that a number have chances here but we think that the horses at the top of the board are very hard to oppose here. Latest betting shows 7/2 Air Force One (GER), 4/1 Albertas Run (IRE), 11/2 Pomme Tiepy (FR), 6/1 Silverburn (IRE), 7/1 Tidal Bay (IRE), 8/1 Joe Lively (IRE), 8/1 Oscar Park (IRE), 8/1 Starzaan (IRE), 14/1 and upwards the rest.
Top Pick To Win: Albertas Run gets our vote here. Perfect prep for this big race and the kind of trainer/jockey combo that can get it done of the big day. We'll back O'Neill and McCoy to win it.
15:15 Seasons Holidays Queen Mother Champion Chase (grade 1)
15:15 Queen Mother Champion Chase (grade 1)
Betting Preview: Barring a massive betting upset these are the ones that matter in the Champion Chase - 5/2 Master Minded (FR), 3/1 Twist Magic (FR), 3/1 Voy Por Ustedes (FR), 9/2 Tamarinbleu (FR), 8/1 Fair Along (GER), with the rest of the field quoted at any price you like.
Top Pick To Win: Our selection to win here is Tamarinbleu who is the right value and goes well for Scudamore. Also suited to Cheltenham and this could be the French-bred's day to shine.
16:00 Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle (grade 3)
Betting Preview: Wide open hurdle race where any number of horses could win it at a big price. The odds board looks like this - 7/2 Leg Spinner (IRE), 8/1 Kicks For Free (IRE), 8/1 Song of Songs, 10/1 County Zen (FR), 16/1 Pablo Du Charmil (FR), 16/1 The Package, 16/1 Laustra Bad (FR), 16/1 Junior, 16/1 Mendo, 16/1 Naiad du Misselot (FR), 20/1 and better the rest.
Top Pick To Win: At the juicy odds of 16/1 we will take The Package to feature well here. An each-way wager in a monstrously difficult race to handicap is definitely recommended.
