Belmont Betting Opportunity Beckons - 05-30-07

May 30 - Belmont will be the center of betting attention in June starting with this Thursday's meeting that features a huge pick six carryover of more than $250,000. It is a tricky card, however, with five of the six legs scheduled to be run on the Belmont Park turf course.

The Belmont Stakes is the biggest race in the USA in June of course as it is the final leg of the Triple Crown and horseplayers will hopefully see round three of the burgeoning rivalry between Street Sense and Curlin.

But well before that race Belmont Park will play host to a massive Pick Six pool thanks to a carry over from the Memorial day meeting of $262,675.

The Pick Six starts with Race 4 on Thursday and in an attempt to help you out we're giving away a few free picks for this tricky exotic bet.

Race 4 (first leg): Two horses stand out here - Too Risky and Unigold. The former ran a very good race last time out in this class and could well go one better. Unigold drops in class and on best form has this race won.

Race 5 (second leg): Tricky maiden race with unraced horses in the field. Go as wide as possible with your Pick Six perm.

Race 6 (third leg): Justy will have many supporters and will probably start favorite for the third time in a row. Bear in mind this is another maiden race and Justy may well find one better yet again. The first timer Peace Mon is very well bred and is hard to leave out.

Race 7 (fourth leg): Single the entry in this leg and you should be okay. The two horses are Whateverwillbwillb and Classic Expression. Our preference is for Classic Expression with Edgar Prado riding.

Race 8 (fifth leg): Here we recommend another single with Makderah. Extremely well regarded by her connections she should come on a lot from her second-place finish at Keeneland last time out. If you're going to take a stand in the Pick Six this could be the horse.

Race 9 (sixth leg): Wide open and you should once again go wide here.
