Audemars Piguet QEII Cup Betting Preview - 04-21-08

April 21 - The annual Audemars Piguet QEII Cup and Champion's Mile will take place on Sunday at Sha Tin race course in Hong Kong.

Early on Sunday morning with little regard to the high humidity levels, some of the international challengers had their first gallops on the race track. They went on after the local racehorses, who look particularly strong this year.

Darren Beadman, rode Viva Pateca this morning and says that he is doing really well. Viva Pateca has picked up weight and is almost back to his perfect racing weight. He says that seeing that this is his home ground Viva Pateca looks to be the horse to beat especially since this is his preferred distance to run.

Beadman will be riding Joyful Winner in the Champion's Mile. Joyful Winner is in good form and if any other horses aren't firing 100% he will be able to capitalize on that. Able One is looking quite good, but has just come back from an injury so although he won the race last year, he may not be in quite as good form this time round.

Sir Slick from New Zealand has apparently settled in well and his jockey Roxanne Rattley is happy with the work he put in this morning.

Quijano who is trained by Peter Schiergen looked to be sweating up a bit after his work on the track, but apparently likes the heat and will be in form for the race. Quijano must be included in all Exotics bets and is our tip to finish second in the race.

Mike de Kock from South Africa has Archipenko lined up for the race and is happy with the way he has settled in. They arrived in the middle of a terrible storm and even though he is known to get a little edgy, he didn't bat an eyelid. He will do a bit of work on turf tomorrow. Archipenko is our pick to win the race.

Balius and Musical Way form France are also back in Hong Kong for the race. Musical Way came third in the CX HK Cup in December.

The Japanese entrants in the race are Matsurida Gogh and Meiner Segal. They both had an easy canter this morning and have settled in well barring a few nerves at the new surroundings.

We like ARCHIPENKO to win with QUIJANO to finish second.
