Arch Rebel a Real Contender for Tattersalls Gold Cup - 05-24-08

May 24 - Irish horse racing pundits will be out in force tomorrow (Sunday, May 25th) at The Curragh Racecourse near Newbridge in Ireland, for the 2008 Tattersalls Gold Cup, a prestigious race for four-year-old and older thoroughbreds, with many eyes focused on Arch Rebel.

According to his globally respected Irish County Meath-based horse trainer, Noel Meade, Arch Rebel will be the horse to watch in this grueling 2112m race that is renowned for offering up exciting and exhilarating horse racing action.

Meade admits that a much-needed breathing period is just what the globetrotting Arch Rebel has required, and he is now ready and primed to face off some stiff competition at The Curragh tomorrow, including from the impressive Duke Of Marmalade and Lucarno.

While Arch Rebel finished fourth in his last outing in December last year at the Hong Kong Vase, the last time he ran at the Tattersalls Gold Cup a few years ago, his performance was notably lackluster and he failed to impress.

Said Noel Meade, 'While Arch Rebel may have had a bit of a hold-up, this year's Tattersalls Gold Cup is the race we've been looking forward to for some time, even though it's a big ask first time out in a race like this. He had a wind-op this winter, which I am hoping will help him.'

Mead started training thoroughbred race horses in 1971 and has never looked back, with an array of big race wins under his belt, including five National Hunt Trainers titles and seven leading trainer titles.
