Trainer Profile |
Andre Fabre |
Andre Fabre was born on the 9th of December 1945 in France. He has a law degree but made the decision to follow a career in horse racing instead. He started out as a groom and then a schooling rider. He emerged as France's top jump jockey when he won in excess of 250 races.
He then changed direction and decided to train thoroughbreds instead and soon proved to be even better at training than at riding. He started out training jump horses and has moved on to flat racers. In this regard his career path was very similar to another one of Europe's great trainers, Aidan O'Brien.
Fabre has yet to win the English Derby and last year he trained the top rated horse in the world, Manduro, before he was injured whilst winning his final prep race for The Arc, Europe's greatest race, and had to retire.

For the past 19 years Andre Fabre has been crowned the champion trainer of France and is known the world over as one of the leading trainers. He has won 4 Breeders Cups amongst many other races in Europe and North America.
Fabre trained Hurricane Run who was The World's Top Ranked Horse in 2005, and he was one of the seven Arc winners to come from the yard. Sagamix, Subotica, and Carnegie are three more who didn't even make it on to our list of "ten notable horses" trained by this magician! |
