2012 J&B Met Betting Preview And Free Tips
Author: Marc Weinberg
January 25 - J&B Met betting is dominated by Mike de Kock's filly Igugu. She is currently trading at 6/4 and looks very tough to oppose on the July Handicap form. Most of her main rivals this Saturday were behind her that day, and she is better off at the weights this time around.
The latest full betting for the race is as follows:
Bravura 10/1
The Apache 14/1
Tales Of Bravery
10/1
Ilsanpietro
18/1
Lion In Winter
66/1
Smanjemanje
40/1
Cask
100/1
Fabiani
125/1
Super Storm
40/1
Chesalon
20/1
Run For It
18/1
Igugu
6/4
Emerald Cove
18/1
Beach Beauty
14/1
Gimmethegreenlight
8/1
Astro News 40/1
My idea of a value bet is to select the Trifecta or the Quartet for this race. I have narrowed it down to six selections, and then there is always the chance of a big payout if Igugu should run poorly.
My advice is to box the following horses, for either the Trifecta or Superfecta:
The Apache - quality horse, and could be well suited to the track and distance.
Tales of Bravery - super consistent, and likely to finish in the first 4.
Gimmethegreenlight - have to include on the basis of his Queen's Plate win.
Igugu - no explanation necessary!
Bravura - have my doubts about his true ability at 2000m but hard to leave out of the Exotics.
Run For It - likely candidate as a roughie for the top 4.
If your budget allows you the luxury of a 7th horse for these wagers I would also include Lion In Winter who could run into 3rd or 4th at his very best.
